The city of Savannah has a multimodal transportation system that can transport visitors to the center by road, rail and sea at no cost. Bike Walk Savannah is an organization working to become an even more bicycle-friendly city, advocating for the implementation of a comprehensive streets policy and providing bicycle programming in Savannah. Savannah's local bus system operates services in and around the city and its outlying suburbs, some of which stop near the most popular tourist attractions. The service operates between three piers, two on the urban side of the Savannah River and one on Hutchinson Island. If you're traveling with pets (except service animals and except on the Savannah Belles ferry, which does allow animals on board), you'll unfortunately have to use another method to move around the city, as pets are not allowed on Savannah buses. There's no better way to explore the Savannah River than sailing aboard the Savannah Riverboat.
They also give you the flexibility to extend your tour by two days, so there's no need to rush to explore all of Savannah's beauty and history. The Two Dot Express Shuttle service runs through the city center; the Savannah Belles ferry connects River Street to Hutchinson Island.
